Analytical filter papers are made from cellulose and, thanks to their properties, fall into two categories:
Qualitative filter papers
Quantitative filter papers
Qualitative filter papers are recommended for methods that require the identification of substances included in an unknown sample, whereas quantitative filter papers are used for methods that require the identification of how much of the substance is in the sample (e.g. in gravimetry).
